Kaitlin Traynor
Hello! My name is Kaitlin (she/her) and I am looking forward to getting to know you!I began working in the mental health field in 2017 as an ABA therapist, and since that time I’ve explored many different areas in the field of mental health by working in acute care hospitals, crisis centers, community-based services, and outpatient services. I have been a Resident in Counseling since 2022, and am looking forward to being fully licensed by the end of 2024! In my time working in mental health, I’ve learned that challenging your own mental health and way of thinking can be terrifying because it’s something that’s unknown and unpredictable. Why do you think we watch the same TV shows over and over again? It’s my goal to be in the unknown with you, and to support you in challenging yourself to discover your favorite version of yourself. I’m looking forward to taking this journey with you, and I am proud of you for taking this challenge on for you. On a deeper level, I am someone who believes that past emotions, behaviors, and thoughts impact not only present day emotions, behaviors, and thoughts, but in how we view and talk too ourselves and to the ones we love. Therapy can be scary sometimes as you’re talking about and exploring memories, thoughts, and emotions that you may have been bottling- I get it. It's my hope to give you the space to explore your emotions and to begin challenging yourself to rewrite the language you use to describe you. I want you to be more present with yourself so you’re able to be more present in your relationships with others too. To support you, I use primarily a cognitive-behavioral and narrative approach in sessions, and for couples I also utilize Gottman’s approach. Over the years in the mental health field I have grown a passion and drive to support individuals in navigating depression, anxiety, self-esteem, life transitions, relationship issues, and LGBTQIA+ issues. When I’m not being a Resident in Counseling, I enjoy creating art and music, playing video games, spending time with my family and friends, trying to convince my partner to adopt a dog or 12 with me, and playing Dungeons and Dragons. Thank you for your time in reading a bit about me, and I look forward to meeting you!
