Quiana Matthews, LMFT
I am your typical nerdy hippy who also happens to be a retired/disabled Army Veteran, military spouse, and mother of seven, {four human kids and three fur babies}. I served for 14 years as a Military Intelligence specialist and had the opportunity to travel the world and serve my country. I attended the University of Maryland University College where I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and went on to graduate from Capella University Magna Cum Laude with a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Counseling Therapy. I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT), specializing in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing Trained (EMDR) and The Gottman Method.
In addition to practicing psychotherapy as an LMFT, I am also a certified Adaptive Yoga Instructor as well as a Level II Reiki Practitioner. In my spare time I enjoy reading, spending time with my family, gaming, and Stargazing. I also have a pretty decent crystal collection and I am a total Sci-Fi/Fantasy geek.
My style of therapy consists of a combination of Western and Eastern traditional practices. I utilize traditional psychotherapy methods such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy {CBT}, Emotional Focused Therapy {EFT}, and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing {EMDR}, and various other systems-based methodologies for individuals and couples as well as alternative therapeutic methods such as Shadow Work, Yoga, Mindfulness/Meditation and Reiki. This approach allows me to treat my clients holistically, mind, body, and spirit, helping them to achieve the life they desire.
