Philip Agber, RIC

Hello, I’m Philip Agber, a Resident in Counseling. I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Counseling Psychology, I am completing a Doctor of Ministry program focused on Trauma and Moral Injury, and serve as an Army Chaplain. I am also a board-certified chaplain and amcompleting postgraduate residency hours toward full state LPC licensure under the clinical supervision of Domonique Wilson, LPC.

Seeking therapy takes courage, especially when you feel overwhelmed, anxious, exhausted, or uncertain about what comes next. My goal is to provide a safe, welcoming, and nonjudgmental space where you feel heard, valued, and understood. You do not have to navigate life transitions, stress, relationship concerns, burnout, or boundary challenges alone. Therapy offers an opportunity to slow down, reflect, and better understand the thoughts, emotions, and experiences affecting your well-being. Whether you are facing a specific challenge or pursuing meaningful personal growth, counseling can help you move forward with greater clarity and confidence.

My counseling approach is collaborative, holistic, and tailored to your unique story. I believe you are the expert on your own life, and my role is to support you as you identify your strengths, clarify your goals, and develop practical strategies for change. I draw from Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and grounding techniques to help clients manage difficult emotions, challenge unhelpful thought patterns, strengthen self-awareness, and create greater balance in daily life. Together, we may explore how past experiences, current stressors, relationships, beliefs, and personal expectations influence how you see yourself and respond to challenges. Our work may include developing healthier boundaries, improving emotional regulation, building coping skills, increasing self-compassion, and identifying patterns that may be keeping you stuck. Therapy is not about having all the answers immediately. It is about creating a supportive environment where you can explore your experiences honestly and grow at your own pace. I approach each client with cultural humility, curiosity, and respect for the complexity of the individual experiences. I believe effective counseling combines clinical knowledge with agenuine therapeutic relationship grounded in trust, consistency, and compassion. If you have been considering therapy, you do not need to wait until life feels unmanageable to reach out. The first step can be as simple as asking questions, sharing what brings you to counseling, and exploring whether we are a good fit. Together, we can identify your strengths, address overwhelming patterns, and build practical, sustainable tools to help you live withgreater resilience, confidence, and clarity.
